Instant favourites #5 “Telling the Story”

Why documentary style photography is the right choice to to tell compelling wedding stories

With documentary photography, telling a compelling story is always paramount in  the way I go  about shooting and editing your wedding.

I’ve highlighted a couple of images from  a recent ceremony which  highlight how I accomplish  this. In general  what  it comes down  to  is being in the right place at  the right time and able to be nimble enough  to capture things as they  happen. In the first  image, Matthew and Natalie hired in  a wedding singer who  went into  action as soon  as the wedding breakfast  started to  wind down. I can’t recommend this enough – it gets everyone up  and out of that  post  meal  torpor and into party mode really fast. The show started with the “waiter” coming to  the front and falling over, which immediately drew everyone’s attention. The gentleman at  the far  right of the image started shouting for a doctor and. As he got up  he started regaling the young lad who sprung up  to  help him with that  wedding classic “Can’t Make My Eyes Off You”. It really kicked off the rest  of the day.

In the next image, its about as simple a it gets. Taken later on  in the evening it’s quite self explanatory but what draws me to  it is the intense happiness it conveys.

An extraordinary way to capture the story of your wedding day!
