Matthew and Natalie’s Wedding - New Years Eve 2023

Matt and Natalie got married on new years eve at the Alderley Edge Hotel in Cheshire. This was a long but very enjoyable day, starting out with coverage of the usual bride prep and ending up [of course] at midnight to see in the new year.

The rest in between was full of surprises…mostly for the guests but even for close relatives. So why not have an owl fly up the aisle to deliver wedding rings I hear you ask? Well this happened. I have to admit it puts a certain amount of pressure on the photographer to capture the bird mid-flight and with me not being a wildlife specialist, this could have gone wrong. But who am I kidding? Of course not. The owls were trained and supplied by owlringbearer.co.uk. I thought this was a bit of a niche thing but they are very busy people.

After the ceremony, guests had a chance to get acquainted with the ring-bearing Barn Owl and a smaller Scops Owl close up. We’re not done yet. Next up was the singing waiter – he made a dramatic entrance by coming over to the main table and taking a tumble. He was immediately surrounded by concerned citizens, calls for medics went out, but he picked himself up and started to serenade the guests, whipping them up into a frenzy of singsongs and conga lines.
